The Impact is a phrase used to refer to a large meteor strike which changed the planet of Saylua. The Impact was an extremely significant event on Saylua, which introduced magic and caused the planet to become tidally locked. The Impact is generally considered to mark the start of a new significant era in Sayluan history, so it gained usage as an epoch. Thus, years on Saylua are denoted relative to how far they occurred after the Impact or ATI.

Etymology

The Impact is sometimes called The Great Impact. However, when The Impact first occurred, the event was widely known enough that people could refer to it as "The Impact", and others would understand. As a result, this phrase gained and maintained popular usage as the de facto phrase to refer to the meteor strike.
